storyboard

this is the aims and context of my film. unfortunately i couldn't make it any bigger as it was scanned in.

This is the start of my ideas for the planning of my story.

The flash backs will be in a personal view of Clive, this is to give the effect as thought he is watching Mark and Mary. The flash backs will start when Mary is tied up in Clive's kitchen. they will be black and white to enhance the fact that they are flash backs. the flash backs will be of Mark and Mary entering a shopping center, to go to a restaurant, there will be over shoulder shots when there is conversation, and allot of closeups.

today i began the planning of the flashbacks which i would include in my film. i don't want to over complicate this project as i cant afford it to take more time then needed, so i am trying to keep it simple. I have decided to use a friend from my film studies class to act the part of Mark in my film. in using a Friend from my film studies thee is a higher chance of reliability. i am still using the same girl to play the part of Mary as she is still willing to act for me.

after informing my teacher of my plans of re shooting my film and the problems which have caused me to do so, we looked through my footage together. I put all of the shots together which have continuity, and i have a fair bit of footage. so it was decided that the best thing to do instead of re shooting the whole thing is to stray from my original storyboard a bit and put flash backs in of how Mary got to Clive's house. I relay liked this idea it will not only save me time it will show more stylistic elements to my film and make it more interesting.

today i put my footage on the editing sweet. And after looking at it it turns out that i am lacking in continuity as my actors are wearing differnt clothes in some of the shots, therefore i must reshoot. another problem is twop of the people who were acting for me are no longer available which is causing great problems so i will have to start over again, but i am low on time.

after filming the beginning of my film i found i third person to act for me so i could finish the rest of my film. this person again isn't someone i know personally, but is a Friend of a student that is already acting for me. i feel allot better after today as i have got my ending, and feel it is all coming together. we used the staff kitchen for the set, and everything flowed nicely today. my camera was better today i got some good panning shots and point of view shots, which were done using a hand held camera to create realism within the diogisis.

my second day of filming and i am going to retake the shots which were poor on my first take as i am down an actor and this will prevent me from having to backtrack on editing these shot later. i felt a lot more at ease today as my actors were no longer strangers and in result of this there was a calmer atmosphere, which abled me to concentrate on my poisoning of the camera more using the try pod.

today we started filming. at first i came across two problems, one was not having a place to film as my scenes are set in a kitchen. thankfully i was able to film in the staff kitchen after college. the other was my third actor had pulled out and decided they didn't want to do it. so we could only go through half of the script. this was my first time flamage and using a tripod. i found it hard especially to make the shots flow and get them right. looking back at the footage i see i will have to retake some of the shots.

today i met with the three pupils my tutor had asked to act for my film. thankfully we came to the arrangements of Monday and Friday afternoons to film. i am nervious to work with people i havent spoke to before and telling them what to do but i am also looking forward to it, as i can see my work coming to life.

after a wile of not been able to find anyone to act for me who are available at the same time, my tutor has also been asking some of her pupils, she has found three who are more then willing to help. hopefully we can arrange suitable times which we can all work around.

iv now finished my script, but i am finding it hard to find people to act for me who are available at the same times. and as my partner has left everyone eles in my class are in groups, and are busy with there own work.

today i made a start on my script. at first i didn't quit understand how to lay out a script and what to include, so i looked at some screen plays and scripts in the library from Romeo and Juliet. i also found some script layout examples on the Internet which helped a great deal. http://www.slideshare.net/bobusmaximus/script-layout-guide

i finished drawing out my storey board with a total of 35 shots. they show detail of the camera shot i intend to use weather it be close up etc the sound, and props also how long the shot will be.

i found it hard not only to draw what i had in my head but to include all the detail within the mes en scene.

today i made a start on my storey board. my drawing isn't great. I'm finding it hard to draw each scene as i have it in my head.

i have decided to film the end of my synopsis as i feel it will be the most interesting and " thrilling" part.

the storyboard serves the same function in film making as an outline does in written projects. it enables me as the film director to visualise the flow of camera shots and sets that i want to eventually appear on the camera scene. drawing a rough storyboard is the first step to visualising a script or a screenplay. when the words of the script are broken down into units of action and drawn as a storyboard, it is easier to see weather my ideas are going to work on screen. the process of storey boarding therefore helps me decide the sequences of shots, the movement of actors, camera directions and lighting. most importantly, the storyboard illustrates how the narrative will flow from one shot to the next as the audience watches the film.

after finalising synopsis it was decided that its is more of a thriller then romance genre.

Mary and Clive have been childhood friends all their lives, and now are starting college. Mary get a boyfriend called Mark, but what she didn't realise is that Clive is in love with her. Clive tries to break Mary and Clive up. Mary finds out and never wants to see Clive again. Clive becomes jealousy crazed and invites Mary over to apologise one night. She goes over to Clive’s house and he locks her in the house. She wakes up tied to a chair. He tells her about his love for her and how if he cant have her no one can. he plans to kill them both. But her hero Mark, sneaks in through the back window, hits Clive over the head and knocks him out; and rescues Mary. Clive goes to jail and Mark and Mary can be together.

this is my first attempt at a new synopsis, it isn't bad but its not straight to the point so i need to cut it down again.

Synopsis


Kat is a popular girl in school. A new boy called Josh is introduced into her class, he didn't talk and somehow she finds him interesting and wants to get to know him.

She tries to talk to him but he’s not interested so her and her friends follow him one night after school. Her friends leave her after so long and she finds herself alone in a grave yard with him.

She finds out that he is a vampire and it is his job to bring the other vampires food, he hates this. She wants to be apart of his world as she has fallen in love with him.

She takes over his job and proves herself. And he falls in love with her. They live forever together.

i found this was to long and complicated, perhaps not realistic. which is why i decided to start again.

today i focused fully on cutting my synopsis down. i also decided that my genre was to be romance, as i felt this was the best which fit my synopsis.

it has taken 3 attempts to get my synopsis down to a paragraph.

film planing

today i made a start on writing my new storey, I'm fining it hard to get a good ending, and which genre to follow. at the moment it needs cutting down to become a synopisis isted of a full storey.

my partner for creating my film has dropped out of college so i am now working on my own and am starting to write up a new storey.

as i am working on my own i will be editing, filming and directing a part of my film by my self.
